"Welcome to nine to five photographer, the podcast to help professional photographers and filmmakers. Get more shoots, make more money and spend more time doing the things they love. And now your host Simon Jones.

Hey, Hey, Hey, we're here in episode one of nine to five photo, the podcast to help photographers and filmmakers get more shoots, make more money and spend more time doing what they love. And I'm so glad that you're here listening to this. Now, I'm really excited to bring you this episode to let you know what you can expect from this channel, because most episodes we'll feature a guest and that guest will often be someone who's successful in their business, but they're not so far ahead that they can't remember how they grew their business in the earlier days. And that means that we can share stories with you about how they went from nothing to where they are now, the tactics that they employed to get more shoot bookings and finding the right kind of photography and filmmaking that suits them. So it's all geared towards helping you to, well, like I said, to get more shoots, to make more money and spend more time doing what you love.

So from time to time, I'll also be inviting onto the show, non photographer experts, but people who can help you with some aspect of your business. So maybe someone who can advise the best way to run Facebook ads or SEO, uh, maybe someone with GDPR experience and model release forms, maybe even some of those things we might try to ignore such as how to get on top of your finances, but they're all things that we might need to know about from time to time. But like I say, it's all about bringing help advice and guidance to you for your business.

Now, we won't be looking at things like how an aperture works. For example, if you're into that kind of thing, I don't think I'm going to be able to help you at all. If you're keen to know that sort of thing, actually, I didn't have a clue even how an aperture works.

And to be honest, I don't think I want to know either. I'm just not really that fast on that. But if you want to do more of what you love already, then you'll learn a lot from the people that I'll be bringing on to this show. I'm also going to share some of my own stories, but this podcast, it's not about me. It's about you. And it's about the guests that I'll be bringing on, but be assured that I am very much a photographer and a filmmaker myself.

And back in 2010, I made the move from being full-time employed to becoming a full-time photographer. So I've been through those steps, myself of growing my own business, which means I should be able to ask the right questions to allow the guests to share relevant information that will help you and having done it myself is how I was able to put together a free guide that you can get your hands on right now.

It's called 10 top tips for growing a photography business. And you can download it now by visiting my website, which is That's a number nine and a number five nine to five Now I'm launching this podcast channel with guest episodes already recorded, which means you can dive straight in right now. Our first guest is a wedding photographer, but like so many of us, someone who used to have a normal job, if you can put it like that before leaving that behind and starting out on his own, his name is Xander Casey. He's based here in the UK, in London. So you can jump straight across to that right now to hear what he has to say.

But before you go there, I've got one more thing to ask you to do something to ensure you don't miss out on future episodes. I'm going to ask you to subscribe to this channel. Not only does it mean you'll be notified when I release new content, not only does it help this channel more than you could ever know, but much more than that, it will give me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside for which I won't be able to thank you enough, but in the meantime, I appreciate you listening to episode one.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. And I'll talk to you again soon in episode number two with our first guest.

I'll see you there. Bye for now.
